The American Council for Immigration Reform hosted a briefing on the security crisis posed by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that threatens our nation if amnesty and guest worker elements of Senate Immigration Reform Bill 1348 ever become law. [Although this bill failed, its individual elements will likely be raised again in other legislation.]
This charge was made and substantiated by four immigration experts at the National Press Club. All four experts are deeply familiar with the operations of the USCIS office, which is responsible for processing applications for legal permanent residency, citizenship, and evaluating supporting documents. Among the panelists was Rep. Ed Royce who is serving his eighth term in Congress representing Southern California's 40th District, based in Orange County. He is the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee's Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade Subcommittee.
