God's Gender

It's popular today to attribute gender to God to further a position of chauvinism or feminism when in reality God doesn't have a gender. The scriptures teach us that God is Father, Son and Spirit and Jesus came as a man, but both men and women bear the image and likeness of God and are created equally. I agree that one gender should not oppress the other. I believe the reason men were given the responsibility of ruling over their wives is because marriage is supposed to symbolically reflect the relationship between Jesus and his Church, and Jesus is the ruler in that relationship. But, in real terms, it just boils down men loving their wives unconditionally and women honouring their husbands. Which seems pretty equal to me. They're both supposed to help each other.

I'm confused. By the Christian doctrine of the Trinity I am able to say Jesus is God. Also, Jesus is the Son of God. On the topic of gender, should I separate the Trinity to believe that the Father and the Son are male while God is not? Or should I continue to believe God is three in 1?

I will say read the bible (i say that because you claim to have not read it much, which that confession really weakens an argument) study it in its original language (Old Testament -Hebrew, New Testament - Greek. I don't think you don't know that I just wanted all my bases covered)

Also Jesus saves those who accept Him from sin and hell, not from deception (Going back to your Eve comment) also what most people don't say is that Adam was standing right there (she's gonna use that)

And yes a lot of men in the church have and do and will undoubtedly continue to do so. And for that I am sorry.

I feel like we often times equate role with value, and equate submission with inferiority or superiority depending on which side of submission stand, also its hard to convey tone in print so if at any point it felt like I was coming after you I apologize and that is not my intent.

People are not lesser than their government officials yet there is deference

The problem is when men, disgusting and vile men take scripture out of context and use the bible as a club with which to berate their wives which are gifts entrusted by God

Listen, I don't have all the answers to every question (whether it be loaded or not) and I won't pretend to.

Yes He can see its misuse because he never intended it to be this lording of power, that's why He commands "husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave his life for her" (Ephesians 5:25) and a whole slew of other commands that go to husbands that are designed to one make him dependent on God and two make it easy for her to "submit" not because is lesser
