DigInfo - http://movie.diginfo.tv - Shimadzu Corporation have developed an ultra-high speed video camera, the HPV-1 Hyper Vision. To be used in scientific and industrial fields, it uses a new type of image sensor, the IS-CCD, which was developed in collaboration with Kinki University. In this CCD, each pixel is attached to memory which can store 100 frames of light data directly from the sensor. This removes the bottleneck created when having to transfer the data from the CCD to the circuit, allowing the camera to record fluid motion at up to one million frames per second.
