The Colors of Sardinia - I Colori della Sardegna

I was amazed by all the vivid colors in Sardinia--the sea, the flowers, the buildings--and this video attempts to capture some of my favorites. The song is "Sa Cozzula" sung by the Coro di Nuoro. My husband and I were fortunate enough to meet (by chance) the director and a few of the members of this famous chorus; they demonstrated Sardinian hospitality at its best.

Thanks for the compliments! There is a very old tradition of choruses in Sardinia, and in particular, the region around Nuoro. The style of singing is apparently only found there. I read that some people believe that the singers originally were imitating animal sounds, especially cows.

You have the eye of an artist, GelsominatheVolpino! I felt as if I were there. Beautiful, beautiful, oh, so beautiful!! Also, love the sound track: the singer holding the drone note makes it almost sound like Tuvan throat singers have joined in the Sardinian chorus!
