The Human Resources Department of Mecklenburg County Government has agreed to serve as business host in a partnership with North Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation, Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), InReach, and Mecklenburg Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Authority (AMH) to support Project SEARCH. This project is a School to Work Transition program designed to be one academic year for students with disabilities in their last year of the Compensatory Education Program at CPCC. A pilot semester began in January of 2011 and will run through the end of April. In August, a one year Project SEARCH internship program will commence.
