The last expert discussion in the article is one of the more intelligent and non-hysterial non-US discussions of past and present US middle-east policy re: 'neocon' ideology.
As a US citizen, I hope we can pull out of conflict in the region relatively quickly and without sacrificing life and dignity. Keeping a large force on the ground for a long term is unthinkable to me, and I hope, our leadership.
I think one of the biggest problems, at least for me to accept, is how awful gvt's there are.
