OSATv TouchLine host, Anthony Totera, interviews Paul James, former Canadian U20 men's coach who has spent the last six years as the highly successful "master coach" of the York University soccer programs -- a position from which he just resigned -- on the role of University soccer and his views on player development and high-level coaching in Ontario and Canada. James coached the York women all six seasons, leading them to a 66-19-15 record and four CIS championship appearances. The York Lions, who had never previously made it to the national championships before James arrival, were runners-up in 2007 when he was named CIS and OUA Coach of the Year.
Some interesting things stated from an outspoken but very passionate coach. At about 5 minutes it becomes very interesting.... he states that Top 10 in Men and Women would be just outside the top 30 which is very suprising to me. I would like to know where he thinks the #1 and #2 teams would place? York has an incredible amount of talent in both mens and womens. I hope there is a follow up interview at another point. Thanks
