  • I think it's great for a woman to sing the part of Judas in JCS, as it adds an interesting dynamic - but this sucked. She tried to sing it like Carl Anderson... problem is, he's a man with a fantastic range, and this girl needs training desperately. She's not a terrible singer, but she needed to tweak a few notes to make them work with her range. With the right chick, this can work.

  • This isn't the first time there was a female Judas. Plus, this Judas is pretty awesome.

  • I am a contralto.

I can hit from D3 to E6, so I can sing this song with no problem.

I really, really don't like how some of the notes aren't right.

It sounds like some of the pitches are forced, which makes the singers voice fall flat.

It's not the fact that she's a girl, it's the fact that her range isn't appropriate for the song.

All in all, it's okay. I've heard worse.

  • We did a production in high school too and had a female jesus. It's all about the actor. I'd rather cast a bester acting female than a subpar acting male for the role if thats what it comes down to.

  • wow! I am impressed. that judas ain't bad

  • but you have to remember that the only female part is Mary- what do you do with the rest of your female actresses/singers? But yeah, I think judas works best as a guy.

  • I actually liked it better with a female Judas... although this production was so much better live.

Did anyone film Ty & Anneka's version?

  • It's been done many times. The notes are hardly as impressive with a girl, though. Still, I think she does a decent job.

  • Girls can do a lot of guy parts, I've seen it. But in this one, I would think it would be more impressive if they could have found a guy that fit in the range.

  • oh come on. i've seen some shitty male Judas.

don't you think it should be done by a good girl singer rather a crappy guy singer? maybe none of the guys who auditioned could compete.
