  • Go to the AKC standards for Maltese. They should be between 4 to 6 pounds. Anyone who purports to breed them smaller is only doing so for the cuteness factor and not considering the health of the dog. No reputable breeder would even THINK about breeding for "tea cup" size - that is a marketing ploy.

  • In a maltese standard, there is no such thing as *tea cup* maltese..people who breed tiny little maltese care more about making money than improving the quality of the maltese breed.

Do your research about maltese before buying them from anyone you see selling. Only buy from reputable breeders...

  • sounds like a lot of dogs in back ground are you one of those backyard breeders?

  • Agreed, there is no such thing as a teacup maltese. Breed standard is small, only 4-7 lbs. Anything smaller is unhealthy and poor breeding. Don't be an idiot, RESEARCH before buying! Maltese make fantastic pets, I know first hand! :o)

  • my maltese is sleeping on my lap right at this moment! lol! but yeah, he is pretty happy when people are at our door. : ) They're great if you want a little lap dog.

  • my maltese is 8weeks old... meets new people and he gets soooooo excited and happy and when u pick him up u can feel his heart beating soo fast

  • My maltese, is almost 2. And he is not really hyper. But he is still a puppy, and he is very happy when he meets new people.

  • aww!

    it is so cute!

my mom is thinking about me getting one.

    im so exited!

    =]

  • no they don't. there is no such thing as a teacup maltese. there are good reasons for that a main one being a wealth of health problems for smaller dogs. always research before buying!

  • no there isn't but they consider anything under 3.5 lbs teacups even though they call them that
