  • Sooooo good! Been looking into this a lot lately, though I'm using Boujou instead, and am trying to figure out a way to integrate the tracking data into Blender. If you have any suggestions, that would be sweet. Awesome work though!! :)

  • @jasonkummerfeldt - With SynthEyes it is a straight Export of a Lightwave Scene file that contains the track points as null objects and the camera movement.

I have not used Boujou or Blender. The three important things i learned to get right are:

    1) Setting the frame start at zero in both the tracking software and the 3D program.

    2) Setting the frame rate to the EXACT frame rate (e,g, 23.976 not 24) in both.

    3) Define the groundplain in the tracking software.

    Good Luck!

  • really good job!(Y)

i am also trying to do the same thing with using boujou.did you create the background in 3ds max? i tracked my greenscreen footage in boujou and wanna import a 3d background (which i created in after effects from a 2d image)but couldnt :S id be very thankfull if ud guide me.

  • I use Lightwave and Carrara for my 3D rendering.

    1) Track Video footage

    2) Ensure that the ground plain and distance settings are good for the tracked scene

    3) Export tracked data to 3D program (e.g. 3ds) scene format for camera movement and null points that represent the tracked points

  • 4) Set-up 3Dscene in 3D program aligning the 3D scene objects to the tracked null points and reference; you cannot track a 2D background in 3D space unless you map it / project it onto 3D objects in your scene.

    5) Render 3D animated Scene

    6) Import into video editing software and composite 3D background rendered scene with Live action foreground video and apply keying or masking as required.

    Hope this helps....

  • this is great ! i never thought that such a good result would be possible with that poor green with that much shadow...

    nice1 !

  • Thanks,

I now Light my green screens much better and get MUCH better results.

With good lighting I now capture the shadow of the subject and it is integrated into the Keyed scene.

But, if necessary you can do it down and dirty:)

  • @jasonkummerfeldt your right about that. for me its a back up plan just incase things dont work out

  • @brandonhughes7 voodoo is good for being free and all, but it really doesn't track very well in advanced shots, nor does it support HD footage (at least in my experiences).

  • @jasonkummerfeldt vudoo is a good traking program for blender just look it up on you tube.

  • Hah! I thought the tripods were the CG-Part at first :D

  • I am impressed!

  • Wow. Impressive work. Very nice.
