  • Is it me or are some of the Xbox jRPGs trying a bit too hard to be Western RPGs?

  • Well this game was designed as a "Western-RPG" in mind stated by the developers.

  • just a bit over lvl'd jah? lol, just glad to see some female unit members finally, got kinda p.o'd thiking all you could use were giant fish men and small bunny creatures

  • Actually there is no overleveling since there is no levels.

While Battle Rank could be considered your "level", it also makes enemies stronger as it gets higher too.

  • Just like the SaGa series I see.

  • Well funny you mentioned that since it is the SaGa developers who made this game hehe.

But I must say this game much better than most of the SaGa series they made.

  • Lol, i got last remnant recently >.> just started playing yesterday. faught ground cobra so i looked up on here o.o pretty kewl

  • Square Enix Developers

  • I suppose so, but SaGa does tend to have more unique characters

  • I also think that SaGa is also a testbed for certain features that SE is considering to put into a FF and such.

  • Whoops, meant other gamers XP

I believe so, since they use the similar skill leveling systems

  • Yeah... I think the same guy worked on FF2 (with Frion, etc); though it was interesting how Final Fantasty Legend 3 (actaully SaGa 3) played more like a normal game.

  • That series did have its charm indeed. I remember when I first got SaGa Frontier on the PS1, other games were like, "OMG, there are no levels!? What kind of RPG is this!?" XD

  • I say this since I think it might backfire in some ways.... since wRPG fans if they feel a jRPG is blantantly trying to be a wRPG, they don't like it. (Though if it works in wRPG elements and such in less obvious way and such; they wouldn't be so hard), the jRPG side, some might go "I didn't buy a square enix game to play a wRPG..." It's a kinda scary trend (as in it might threaten to make the jRPG extinct)

  • The SaGa series have always been on the slightly unrefined side... but they also have this charm for the most part as well.

  • That's true =D

Really? I love the SaGa series (okay maybe the remake of Romancing SaGa needed work) myself.
