i was diagnosed with moderate UC and moderate to severe cirrhosis in the summer of 2011, im 19 now. best of luck to you, i belive that i am currently on a medication that attacks the immune system, and i have been on most of the medications you mentioned. again best of luck, medicines can only get better as time goes on. I hope your struggle with this disease will end with you being the victor. and once again best of luck.

My name is Lauren too I'm 13. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colites about a year ago. I have had 3 colonoscopies 3 blood transfusions 3 iron transfusions 2 weeks in the hospital and I was also on prepmason (for about a year) all in the same year. Your video helped me because they still haven't found the meds that will work for me yet. I hope u feel better soon!

And also, if your friends abandon you just because you gain some weight, you might consider if they are worthy of your friendship at all.
I am not 14 though and of course, it is easy to sit on the bench, telling you what to do.
Anyways, i just wanna hug you and wish you the best of luck in life! Thanks
Sincerely //Robert Lindblom, Sweden

You go girl! Very inspirational =). I too have ulcerative colitis and are battling with a minor flare up at the moment.
I have been diagnosed for about 4 years and responds pretty good on medication so far.
The best advice i can give you is to be open about your disease. Tell your classmates that you have a condition that means that you must go to the toilet and so on. Dont try to hide it, since that in itself becomes a stress syndrome, and stress is the worst flare-up generator for me.

they were no friends of yours

Hi I'm 17, and I was diagnosed with colitis, AND crohn's diseas when I was 6. It's been pretty rough. But speaking from experience, the best thing you could do is consider getting an ileostomy. It completely changed my life, and I'm pretty much completely normal now! (: well if you ever want to talk about anything, message me and I'll be glad to help. Good luck with your health. Stay strong
Wow you've had it for a while then? I just turned 18 and got diagnosed with it about a month ago. The first flare was pretty bad. I hope that colonoscopy goes well for you. I have a question... what have your experiences been with soft drinks after you were diagnosed? Like pop or energy drinks? They were a huge part of my diet before my first flare and I'm a little hesitant to try them again... I'm getting cravings though lol

@thethinredman I really don't ever drink energy drinks, so I'm not sure about that. And as for soft drinks, me personally, soft drinks didn't ever affect me. My doctor told me I could drink whatever I wanted, but then again, different people are affected by different things. You might want to be careful. Try cutting down and drinking lots of water. I hope everything goes well for you in the future!
