She's not "Lucy" she's "lucky" because it's a pet
They live here and you can find it anywhere in the desert which is around any city
Many people like catching them and eating them here but I wouldn't ever do so
-
Aw, cute!

The sand started as about 9 -10 inches deep. After about 3 months, between cleaning of feces, and the uros throwing it around it goes down t about 6 inches fast...
Mazuri tortoise pellets are great for them. Most readily take them, and makes for a good variance in their diet.

Yes, The sand I used was washed playsand in the bags from Home depot.
Never had any problems with it.
I would vacuum it up constantly when cleaning up the cage, so I did have to keep supplying it on a regular basis.
Did you wash the play sand? some people say that its riddled with disease but others say that as long as you got it from a bag and didn't just scoop a bunch out of a pit that you should be fine.

He's about 10 years old.
I shipped him to a new home the other day. Sad to see them go, but I did not have the time to spend on them anymore.

Lucy lives on regular play sand.
I have sold him(it is along story) because we adopted 2 new dogs, and the work load was too much.
He is probably around 10 years old.
