Kevin gives a quick look at how the Moblin alpha build works on a netbook. Most of the focus is on the user interface and customizations that are geared for the small screen of a netbook

  • uh?? what's new? it looks a normal distro of linux to me

  • Sorry I must point out a few mistakes! Most of the 'features' you highlighted are standard feature of the XFCD desktop and XFCE will be eventually droped in favour of the Clutter framework. Also, Most live Linux distributions will boot of a CDRom, nothing special there. You failed to mention the amazing boot times! Minefield is just a codename for the trunk build of Firefox, it is 'Mozilla based' in the same way Firefox is!

Finally, watching blury camera in HD really isn't worth it! :D

  • that is'nt moblin

  • i know this has been posted a while ago, and probably everybody had noticed by now that this is in fact XFCE desktop environment and has little to do with Moblin. the video even made it to slashgear, surprisingly...

  • your camera seems pretty foggy

  • The new interface looks alot better than the one shown here....Good video though!

  • Wow, it has improved ALOT since then

  • Agree with all your points

  • Wow. Moblin has drastically improved in the last six months. I'm impressed.

  • Stop commenting on this--this is 6 month old *alpha* software and it looks nothing like this now.

  • wtf!! that is very ubuntu-ishhhhhhh!!

ubuntu works pretty well on laptops already

  • It's not seen here in the video but Moblin has a great boot time. Normally it's under 20 seconds, on the EeePC 901it's even just 5 seconds.
