This piece of recent history was shot @ the "Tiki House" in Pacific Beach,Dago in 2002..

Here the "Thud" cover 2 "Beat Farmer" classics..

The band is basically the Joey Harris/Mentals with another ex "Beat Farmer" Jerry Raney on guitar..

In 2002 "Powerthud" released an 11 track disc called "Wide". It featured all new and original songs.

Of the 11 tracks 6 were penned by Harris with Raney writing the remainder .

All great songs and 5 of the best musicians Dago has to offer backing them up.. This band kicked ass!

Sorry the audio isnt better. It seems the cam did not like being so close to the amps and its limiter kicked in.

  • Thanks for the clarification. I've never heard the version on Van Go. Is it much different than the demo?

  • Actually, HumGuitar was correct. Deceiver was from the "Van Go" album. The version on the "Tales..." reissue is a demo version.

I miss my Powerthud CD, I should have never lent it out!!

  • Deceiver is on Tales of the New West [Expanded and remastered], which was released in 2004. With 28 tracks, it's close to a "boxed set." The disk is AMAZING. It's all BF lineup #1, though, so not ideal if you're a Joey Harris fan.

  • Isn't Deceiver off of Van Go? I really like that song. Van Go was a very good album. I wish someone like Rhino records would issue a Beat Farmers Box set, so I could get all of their stuff on CD. One of the best American bands, ever.

  • very cool. I've played the Powerthud CD many many times. Yeah, badass slide Joey.

  • Joey and Jerry TOGETHER ROCK!!! One day.....together again just to hear this combo of songs. I loved when they would play these back to back.

    Miss you guys being together!

    Ken

  • Friggen eh...These guys were the best with Buddy...then they were the best with Joey...then Dick died.

There is much to fight about these days. Whether BF I or BF II is 1 or 2 is not high on the list. May we only enjoy 1 and 2 equally.

  • Let's try to KISS and MAKE UP !
