Greg Fleming 'California Fishing'

Greg Fleming is a singer/songwriter/writer from Auckland, New Zealand.

'California Fishing' was a single by Greg Fleming from 1997. The single was never released commercially and only appeared on the NZ On Air Hit Disc which is only distributed to radio and industry groups. Two versions of the video were cut - a 'NZ On Air' and 'International Version' which appear to be identical to each other. The video was never aired on TV.
'California Fishing' was intended to be part of a solo album project (tentatively titled 'Taken') following on from 1994's Ghosts Are White album (with the Trains) on Kane Massey's Lost Records which had now been amalgamated into the Deepgrooves label. Musicians on the track included Andrew Thorn on guitar from Lost Records label-mates 'Thorn' (then Splitter and Bic Runga band), and session musicians Tony Lumsden (Hello Sailor) on bass and drummer Wayne Bell (Dave Dobbyn, Greg Johnson...). The track was produced by Wayne Bell along with all other tracks for the Taken album.
At this point Kane Massey was in financial difficulty and the album was never finished or released.

The video was directed by Jonathan King and features a 'model' acting in the video (de rigeur for a music video back then).
Bassist Nick Kreisler (ex Trains and Pet Rocks) appears in the video along with Andrew Thorn and Wayne Bell.
