Daredevil grandmother, 79-year-old Jean Boyd, has raised over £1,500 in
a dramatic 12,000 ft skydive for the Macular Disease Society.
Macular disease is the most common cause of sight loss in the UK. More
than half a million people have it, which means they find it difficult
to read, drive or recognise faces.
"Doing this skydive proves that sight loss needn't hold you back!",
says Jean, who was diagnosed with wet age-related macular degeneration
two years ago. "I did a free fall for 30 seconds before the parachute
opened -- at 120 miles an hour! It was great fun and an amazing
experience."
The Macular Disease Society aims to build the independence, confidence
and quality of life for people with macular disease.
