The world's most beautiful and famous have swallowed his advice. He wrote one of the biggest selling diet books of all time, and it was based on his extraordinary belief that you could eat as much as you desire and still lose weight.

His name was Dr Robert Atkins, author of the Atkins new diet revolution. To some Dr Atkins was a hero, to others his diet was scientific heresy and potentially deadly.
In a series of ground breaking experiments Horizon investigates the truth behind the most controversial diet in history. Does the Atkins diet really work and is it dangerous?

  • Just as a thought. Atkins didn't invent this diet. He read about it in an article!! So who was the author of the article?? We need to give credit where it is due!

  • The most guaranteed way to lose weight: Eat only carrots, lettuce and tomatoes as long as you can.

  • celery is NOT out on this diet..omg so much makes me angry..u can have melon..and berries..and veggies of most sorts..u don't only eat meat,cheese and fat!!!!

  • What's up! You thought about DietOramy healthy diet (do a google search)? I have been told a handful of incredible information over it and my mom dropped a considerable amount of excess fat utilizing it.

  • I tried a number of of the details discussed here, but I have to say that absolutely nothing compares to DietOramy diet regimen program relating to health and excess weight burning - search google, there is a whole lot of free data...

  • @xXSnowflakezXx Yes, and it's not a matter of weight loss. You don't want to lose weight, you want to lose FAT. You can lose weight without losing fat (reduction of bone density, body water, muscle mass loss) and that is BAD. You want to lose FAT without the loss of lean body mass.

  • @BuzzTeddyHead You are correct but he had multiple heart conditions before that.

  • @smoothMousePad I totally agree with you! How can someone say that exercise doesn't really help with weight loss? Geez! Clearly they're speaking out of their butt.... :P
