DJ Chill & Dirty Hairy spent a lot of time in 2010 / 2011 interviewing and filming for a short documentary about digging vinyl records in the Balkans and all things related to those beautiful circular plates. From collecting to DJ'ing to running 2nd hand record stores to sampling, beatmaking and beyond.......

This is some unused footage from a session of Dirty Hairy breaking down the MPC's and doing some sampling , but unfortunatley we had already finished an almost full day of digging and filming. Straight after this we had to go on the radio for our show MIXTAPE SESSIONS after and then straight to a gig in ZGB.. Whilst that sounds like the perfect day for dj's diggers' and beatmakers , and to be honest it sorta was.
this session was re filmed later on with more planing ,less rushed and better examples of what these machines can do .

To explain it more simply , after a 5 hour dig , we arrived at Dirty's place , some one immediately hit ' record ' on the camera and Chill said , '' Ok Hairy represent your stuff , give a us a run down! This is the result unplanned , unprepared unorganised nonsense ..

Peas.

  • Dope video and great insights! The screen on the 2000 XL looks like it will need a little bit more love soon ;)

Pozdrav and keep up the good work.

  • @OldmanBeat thanks bro ,Screen is long dead now .. Dont even turn the 2000xl on.. I think its burried in the garden some place ..

  • @dirtizzle That´s too bad, man. I really liked the 60 / 2000 combo. What did you replace it with?

I have the classic 2000 and hope that the screen never dies. Those cost almost more than the whole box...

  • @OldmanBeat yeah i started off on a 2000 around 1998 sold it in 2001 because i needed cash quick. then bought the XL in 2002 and the 60 i think around 2004.non the less,I always preferred the 2000.with the grills and the band around the wheel to edit samples quicker. The screen will only die if you leave the machine on for long periods of time.when i mean long ,like 48 hours long.I replaced the 2000XL with the 3000. which hurt financially a little but its an awesome machine.

  • what are those monitors? keep seeing them

  • @SkillMitchellBeats sorry bro replied above here .. instead of clicking reply ..

  • @Dottin word . Set up is way different now , plus no smoking in the studio .. this is like MPC 101 .

  • @BeatGates Hvala za slušati buraz . Veliki pozdrav od Shpaolin ;-)

  • Alesis M1 active MK2 . for the money i think they are fairly solid if you are working in a home studio environment. , Only criticism is they can be a little ' over generous ' on the bass. Now i stuff a few socks in the holes .

There is a Passive version which i think is slightly cheaper and you run with a Alesis RA1 power amp are also nice .

  • @Praverb we have done for this documentary we have been filming but only for interviews or visuals in the record stores. But for this particular scene we didnt.
