A passionately romantic version of the Hebrew song and prayer - Shir Hamaahlot (Psalm 126) - from the Jewish Liturgie Service. The music was written by the Cantor Abraham Baer.
Shir Hamaahlot is sung by Amadea (Mezzo-Soprano), accompanied by Uli Domay (Piano) in the Martha Church in Berlin - Kreuzberg during a special Service celebrating five different religions: Islam, Christianity, Buddhismus, Hinduism and Judaism. (January 2009)
Here is an English translation of the original ancient Hebrew text:
... A song of ascents;
When G-d will return the captivity of Zion,
we will be like dreamers.
Then our mouths will be filled with laughter,
and our tongue with joy;
Then they will declare among the nations,
G-d did great things with these people.
("G-d did do great things with us,
and we were happy.")
Return Lord our captivity,
like springs in the desert.
Those who sow tearfully,
but with glad song will reap.
Walk on -
he walks and is weeping -
he - who carries the measure of seeds;
but he will come back in happiness,
a bearer of sheaves.
that was so so beautiful as always!!!

Very nice! I am thankful for the explanation and English translation. Very appropriate message and song for today's world (January 13, 2009). Wouldn't peace, harmony and love be wonderful. I also read Psalm 126 in my King James Version of the Holy Bible. Well, interesting although a lot of language and imagery is somewhat difficult for me and I appreciate a good commentary on Scriptures and Music!
