I love love this movie! first time I watched it, it was like 2am when it ended, I couldn't stop crying neither fall asleep because of this one scene. "like the disciples of Emmaus, Christ passes us by, walks with us and we don't recognize Him" pray for us Padre Pio!

Actually since the one that has been killed had a german accent it's more probable that he was a nazi and the other guys were partisans(you can notice that they don't wear a uniform). In Italy in 1944/45 when the war was ending there were Mussolini's troops,Nazi troops and italian people that wanted to get rid of them both who were partisans (humble people like peasants and farmers that wanted to fight).
