I have an 04 GMC canyon 3.5L I5 Z71 SLE and I agree with some of these people, most of the power is over 4,500rpm, its a shame that the rev limiter only lets me go to 6,000

Got an -05 2.8 5-speed and I totally agree about the tall gearing.
That together with an engine that has most of the power above 4500rpm makes it a little strange to drive...
It´s by no means a slow truck, it just feels wrong to revv the engine so hard in this type of vehicle.
A little more low end torque would be possible to get from such a big "4-banger"
Great highway car though, cruising at 80-90 mph all day long is no problem.
Fuel economy is pretty good, usually gets arround 25mpg.

@econobarn dont feel bad my 4.3 s10 has 3.08s wth it still moves good for and s10 but still u think 4.10s out of a colorado or 4cyl s10 would fit in?

6 grand is were your power is tho
-
@foxracing6977 .. I have an 04 2.8 .. few mods and mines way faster too... It's all in the gearing .. we got and extra ratio ...
-
@abzdefg321123 my bad i just have never called the rear end the final drive i always called it gear ratio or just rear end gears
-
@frodo70444 final drive gear.. ring and pinion.. both the same thing dude
-
@abzdefg321123 final drive? 3.42 would be the gear ratio in the rear end final drive usualy has to do with the tranny
-
@foxracing6977 hold the clutch in just a tiny bit to get passed governor, bout 130 is my top speed for my 06
-
@BeboAltizer u still looking for a motor???
maybe consider a shorter final drive gear as your next upgrade... eep gearing is waaay too tall for a 4 cyl.. did GM even bother to put different gearing in the 4 cyl over the 5?

You have 3 options from the factory. 3.42, 3.73 and 4.10.
