Larger suits need the space for bigger reactors for i-fields (force field made from the same particles that power the reactor and are used in beam weaponry). Also, Psycho Gundam is basically a siege unit that has about 20 guns on it. It would be sent out to blow up a fortress and every suit around it.

I will have to admit, this game and the first one ARE AMAZING. Mobile Suit Gundam Crossfire blows ass.
