The hero of the film is a 78-year-old man named Carl Fredricksen, who walks around hunched over with a tripod cane. When he was a kid he met a girl named Ellie, who grew up in small midwestern town. The two fell in love and eventually got married. Her dream was always to explore the world and visit paradise falls, but as usually happens, life got in the way. They were never able to make good on their promise, and Ellie eventually passed away. Now Carl is a widower living alone in his small home. Developers are threatening to move him into an old folks home.

I always read people saying UP is about chasing your dreams, but I feel differently. Muntz went insane in pursuit of his dream, and Fredrickson didn't find happiness by making it to Paradise Falls.

Don't the Carl/Ellie scenes imply greatness isn't the point? It's summed up in a story Russell tells, which ends: "I think it's the boring stuff I remember most." To me, UP says every moment is a treasure. It's less the destination, and more the journey of life that counts.

I understand you, i didnt watch the movie when they released. 1 year ago one friend recomend me this movie and i have to watch it, well they dont put on this trailer nothing related to the script because just the first 15 minutes are better than almost the whole movie. Watch it :D
