Gold at the Amazon's expense - 08 Jun 08

Thousands of gold miners have flocked to Brazil's Amazon rainforest to find their fortune.

Now, only about 1,000 miners remain, still hoping there's more gold to be found.

But their mining activities are leaving behind a trail of destruction across the rainforest.

if this is such a massive destruction of the rain forest try to find it on google earth. your morons dont under stand the size and scope of the Amazon. when is the last time you heard any thing about the clearing of the amazon? do you know why? try to find that on google earth you can actualy find it but what you will notice next is that it is growing back behind them as fast as they cut it down.

Well I guess we might as well finish the job of killing this planet. It's not like anyone in the world has found anything worth preserving, aside from the crazed pursuit of wealth, at the cost of everything else. Just because a person is trying to make a living, doesn't make it right. i don't really see a problem here either the amazon will consume the barren land in a decade or less only thing YOU should be worried about if you are from brazil is the mercury they dump into it, that stuff extremely harmful to humans and everything else living
