@Zanzecus I think i know how its going to look..hes going to have full control on that weapon stopping in mid punch, instead of hooks he can uppercuts as well. damn this dempsey is going to be awesome

@StrangeFilm If you think about it the biggest challenge for Ippo might be Manabu. Not only is he a genius but he fights like Miyata, and he made it his goal to beat all of Ippos previous opponents faster than he did. Whose to say that somewhere in the future Manabu might leave the gym just to fight Ippo, but we can't forget Ippos ultimate Dempsey roll. with Ippos evolved Dempsey roll the way the coach sees it, then I doubt even Martinez will be able to handle Ippo. Dempsey once ruled the world.

@dunnono00 agreed and its also possible by that logic that Date was a sacrifice to at least reveal the power of Martinez as well. If anything by the way the story is following it could be that Ippo will try to become both the WBC and WBA feather weight champion.

It's possible Sendo is being set up as a sacrifice. One of those career ending fights, where even though he loses, he manages to find some chink in Ricardo's armor, thus setting the scene for Ippo.
In any case, the way Martinez has been portrayed (invincible, even Takamura had to nearly die in order to get his owns belts), no one looks close to beating him.

I don't think anyone can match up against Ricardo Martinez. If Ippo manages to evolve the dempsey roll i still think a shot at Ricardo will still end in failure. (I also Know that Ippo isn't going for the WBA but The WBC.) Sendo on the other hand I think will get slaughtered. I'm not dissing Sendo but seriously Ricardo is an Undefeated 65 title defense Champion.

@allshallbelosttoyou Oh, definitely. I'm assuming you're a semi-pro Boxer as well? (it seems you find a lot on Ippo videos around YouTube). I love the thrill of the ring just as much as the next guy, and I try to carry my pride around hanging by my nose, but at times, one really wishes it was more like it is in the anime.
Well, I gotta grow up and face the reality of it some day, eh? Haha.
