On May 8, 2010, Sejal and Sarthak married at the Hilton in Long Beach. The hotel was one of the first locations the couple looked at and they immediately fell in love with the open plaza with the fountain, which played the backdrop for the wedding ceremony. The wedding and reception embodied the fusion of East meet West, with modern embellishments incorporated into each of the traditional customs. Sejal's transformation from fiancé to wife started with a hair and makeup session by Oscar at Ziba Beauty. Her traditional panetar (white with a red border) lengha was embellished with Swarovski crystals and Sarthak's sherwani was designed to complement the lengha. The baraat procession began with Sarthak arriving on a white horse. Guests were greeted by a beautiful Ganesh statue as they entered the hotel's plaza. The couple opted for a contemporary mandap, with draped fabric, crystals, and the ever classic mutkas (stack of pots). For the Viddai, Sejal really wanted to leave in a doli and although the doli had wheels, Sarthak's cousins and friends welcomed the challenge of actually lifting and carrying it out to the parking lot.

The evening reception was held in the hotel's grand ballroom. Sejal and Sarthak decided to do something unique and totally free (in true Gujurati style) by turning the dance floor so that instead of being square with the room, it was in a diamond shape. Manjit's Flower Cottage created an elegant, modern backdrop for the stage and room decor. Amit Kotecha from 3D Sounds lit the room with up-lights and the couple's name on the dance floor, which created the perfect invitation for guests to join the party and end the night dancing away.

When Sejal came in for the closing meeting and saw footage from what she calls "the fancy cam," (Canon 5D Mark II) she immediately fell in love with the 360 shots and I made sure to include many of those in the couple's highlight video. The Canon unique ability to create such depth of field and a cinematic look to the highlight reel really brought this wedding to life!
