@DownHome Yes, I agree. I did find some recipes online. It seems about what my aunt served. I think I will try one. When we had our restaurant I had a recipe for Tex/Mex casserole...its pretty much the same kind of dish. I can't recall the type of pasta/noodle she used, but my being of Italian/American heritage, I use the word macaroni as a sort of catch-all of any of them. But I noitced from checking out videos that many southern cooks interchange the words Elbows and Macaroni. It all works! xo

@DownHomeCooking I'm no chef, lol...I just like to cook like you do..Keep up the good work!!
We made your recipe and t came out great! I think the addition of the pineapple is a great idea. I got halfway through and noticed it was freezing rain outside, and I remembered your tip. So I froze my egg whites for another time and whipped up some heavy cream for the top...it was fine.

Hi Dar, Do you ever make a dish called "Talerine". My aunt was a Southerner and often made this macaroni dish and we all loved it. Sort of a SouthWest dish. Thanks and have a great day!

@Pattycakessmiles No I have never heard of Talerine before. I looked it up. It's an old ground beef dish. From what I understood, It's a spin off of an Italian dish. The recipes I saw used egg noodles. Macaroni would work just fine. I was born in Tampa,Fl. alot of Spanish, cuban, german, Italian and affrican american( soul food) recipes cross together. I guess what I am trying to say is depending upon where you are from influence the food. God Bless, Darlene
