I'm pretty sure that is how Tali managed to sleep with Shepard. She's discovered how to fight off infections with guns.

I ended up fucking up my male playthrough. I know for a fact i turned down Ash in the first game when she went to my room. Now in Mass effect 2, Ash got a little bit touchy feely on Horizon and i realized that she still likes Shepard. Meanwhile me and tali were having some fun..... I'm tempted to redo my male playthrough completely, but i have to say i'm curious to see what's gonna happen in ME3 with all the romances.

And after this incident, Garrus never wanted to talk to Shepard about Tali ever again..
Shepard: Hey Garrus, funny shit at the Citadel between you and Tali. Wanna talk more about it?
