I was thinking the same thing.

I’m new to skating and hockey myself, so I am definitely what you’d call an “untrained eye” and thus you should take what I say with a grain of salt. But it seems to me that most NHL players skate equally well, i.e. in terms of ability to balance, turn, stop, maneuver, etc.

Where Ovechkin is a bit different, in my opinion, is with regard to his speed. His feet move very quickly - he takes lots of quick steps and builds up speed very rapidly.
