The last remaining turbine steamer Queen Mary (Built 1933) leaves London under tow by tugs Aicirtron, Unico and Horton. She leaves London for La Rochelle in France where she will undergo a 17 month conversion into a a floating hotel, yet still keeping her classic lines.

  • I didn't know about another Queen Mary in London. I've been several times to the "real" Queen Mary in Long Beach. Anyway nice video! Thanks for sharing.

  • When did she drop the suffix 11 (2) again?

  • cool

  • I was last on her when ( and got told off for poking my fingers in the scuppers. About 1977 I remember her arriving @ Largs. So quiet & smooth. But my parents didn't fancy the weather so we didn't sail. That was her last year.

  • One year on and Queen Mary is still in Tilbury Dockd - has the French project been abandonned?

  • Thanks for posting. My wife & I first met and then got married on the Queen Mary. We'll track her down in La Rochelle one anniversary.

  • i used to sail on the queen mary 2 on the clyde. was on her last sailing in 1977. very sad to see her in a poor state, hope all goes well for her journey to france

  • Great video - look forward to seeing how she looks after refit. Mike
