mixedblessing- you make some good points- esp about freedom. I think its important to remember tragic events, but some people appear to want these tragic events to continue because of generational connections. I find this nauseating.

Only a REMF would believe something that stupid.

@redcollargedeon erm, yes you can...

@mixedblessing War doesn't bring peace? WW2 could not be solved with leaders sitting down and talking. Sorry to tell you but the world isn't perfect.

Explain...! Try thinking for once kid...it may help!

a white feather would be more appropriate.

Fair play to you for being so clear and so strong, even having been in that situation Pommit. Thank God for mass communication these days. Flags are surely THE most dangerous weapons of all....and borders aren't a natural phenomenon. God rest the civilian and military dead.

Then you're a fool. The US and other countries didn't invade Afghanistan (a very immoral act) for the purposes of preserving peace and there is no fight for freedom. For someone who fought there it is a shame you believe the rubbish and propaganda of the government. It isn't a worthy cause.

I'm going to wear a white poppy on Rememberance Day this year.
I think the sentiment behind Rememberance Day is a noble one but I never saw what was so glorious about slaughtering people. Surely we could also commemorate all the people who work to make the world a better place without shedding a drop of blood.

Do you work for the exclamation factory company limited? (!!!!!). Relax fellah - and realise that white poppies are relevant to ALL victims of war. Like most families, I've had lots of people in my family die in wars - civilian and military - Polish and Scottish. I somehow consider that if a white poppy represents ALL victims of war that their souls will applaud it. War's not nice - nor glorious. Perhaps that's the point of a white poppy - that 'glory' is perhaps the evilest of words....
Look, you CAN'T wear both poppies. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Make up your mind, chose your side. You can't be pro-life AND pro-choice. You can't.

This is not an issue with two clear cut sides, the way abortion is. And, if the military is supposedly fighting in foreign wars so that we can have peace, then that is the true contradiction -- war does not bring peace, especially when foreign occupiers are brought in. It only causes more problems. Conflicts are solved when leaders of both sides sit down and negotiate.
