mylesgifford 123 sent me this Fasco motor which has a very good armature and coils but some problems with the bearings. The rotor was locking up in the rear bearing so I put the rotor in the drill and polished the shaft with a file and also honed out the inside of the bearing a little to restore smooth operation at the rear. The front bearing has kind of broken up but I think I'll try and replace it with a ball bearing from the bearing shop here. I demonstrate the motor running with the short-checker lamp. The shaft is a different diameter and also the rotor is different than the Berns Air King motor I have so a little adaptation will be needed to fit it into the Berns fan.

  • That speaker on your workbench... it looks like you used a large wire spool as the cabinet. Neat idea!

  • These were actually made this way from the factory by RCA! I salvaged these speaker units from an RCA console TV/stereo.
