@Martch2 It's not only Rita and Arthur's fault it's also Dexter's fault because he failed to kill Arthur with every chance he got,he could've killed him with a chainsaw, with an ax when he hit the deer, he could've let Arthur fall to his death, he could've bludgeoned him with the shovel when he caught Arthur trying to bury the kid, and he could've ignored the phone call so the guy who's car was hit, doesn't interrupt his kill.Dexter could've easily prevented this from happening.

There's So Much Irony In Rita's Death: At The Same Time While Dexter Was At Trinity's House Looking For Him, Trinity Was At Dexter's House Looking For Dexter. And Dexter Could Have And Should Have Killed Trinity Alot Sooner But He Didn't Because He Wanted To Learn From Him So He Could Be A Good Father And Keep His Family When Really Trinity Was An Even Worse Father And In The End Dexter Loses His Wife And Then Aster And Cody Leave Him Because Of What Happened So Dexter Also Loses His Own Family.

I liked that Rita died because it gave so much space for new stories in the new seasons...

I love Dexter but wen i knew Rita was going to die on season 4 i stopped watching. Dexter deserved a good woman. Debra is a whore and they are going to end the series with her being Dexter's wife???

@Xbogey nah the most haunting moment in a tv show was when Jack Bauer found his wife dead at the end of season 1 in 24.
thumbs up if they should have NEVER KILLED RITA!!!!

This was the most haunting moment of any television show I have ever watched. The cold horror of it all, the fact that it happened off-screen makes us feel as hopeless as Dexter must. It happened while he wasn't around to stop it and we weren't around to see. Making it all so after the fact makes it so much worse than if they had shown it happening because we can only wonder about what Rita went through before she died.
