@luciferswife1234 because vibrato denotes proper vocal technique? when vibrato is present, you know the performer is singing healthily and properly. vibrato is natural. it's what singing is supposed to sound like. of course, straight tone is a viable artistic choice, but i wouldn't say that it's a fitting one for such a classical piece. i find a strong vibrato to be one of the most beautiful elements of a singing voice. no one is "saturating" anything, they are just singing naturally. good luck.

Vibrato in a neassary part of "classical" (training not the musical period) and healthy singing. It means that the singer is keeping their diaphrams taut which gives the breath the air pressure needed to sustain notes and phrases. Vibrato varies from person to person. It may sound saturated but its their natural vibrato. You can actually kill you voice and never sing again if you don't use it and push your voice. I even use a little vibrato when I belt and more when I'm in head voice.

@Stewy202 Vibrato does not denote proper technique. Proper technique has more to do with breath control than anything. Whether they have vibrato or a straight tone after the breathing, that doesn't mean have good or bad technique. It's just a type of sound. Where on earth are you getting that idea?

I was in a production of this show, and whenever the this song began i was in tears...

Were there lyric changes? I prefer Rebecca Luker personally. This Lily's phrasing bugs me

This was the last musical I did sound for.

@Stewy202 that is not always true. there are many who have poor technique but still have vibrato.

This is amazing. All the awards to Philip Quast!

I think vibrato sounds much better anyway. It's classic and I know that it makes people sound better. It's the only technique I can use!
I had never heard this song until today. I am now in tears...so beautiful
