Mr Newman did a great job on this movie. He should have been nominated for an Oscar. For 1949 this compelling film is very daring, only ten years after GWTW and three years after Uncle Remus in Song of the South. The cast are superb. Miss Crain deserved her Oscar nomination. Ethels Barrymore and Waters are GIANTS! Thany you for posting this. A lovely tribute to a memorable Hollywood movie of the Golden Age.
