  • Lol, thats very right! I wish I was good as the Maltese at making them. In Malta they make tens of thousands beraq!!! After this shell was made and I went back to Malta one of my friends from a firework factory taught me loads about making them the correct way. I was also given details on making them, watch this space for better shells and maybe some tutorial.

  • I would particularly like to see information on the timing paste and its application. Maybe a start to finish video tutorial on beraq construction?

  • I would but the way I do it is a secret as it was taught by my Maltese friends to me. Try reading rec.pyrotechnics or visiting the UK Pyrotechnics Society forums. I have done a tutorial on my older type beraq on the later website, these are not made the same as my newer ones that use traditional Maltese construction methods. But they will work, not as good as traditional ones however.

  • Sorry never replied to these, yes I did make the entire shell and all the bits inside. I have some more to make, hoping to make a 6" colour shell with beraq. It will be blue with yellow pistil with 2H beraq.

  • I have got to try building one of these some time.

  • lool !! beraq in malta is like doing a meal lool!!

  • GREAT reports!!!

  • Coming from a country that practicaly breeds beraq fireworks amongst other traditional Maltese shells, it is nice to see this much interest in such shells.

You can find many videos of beraq shells and other maltese shells which have been perfected over the years in Malta, particularly from Luqa if you click on my youtube name. All manufactured by the St.Andrew's Fireworks Factory of Luqa, Malta.

Keep up the good work and keep safe!

  • how many grams of lift powder was that? and how did you get every little firecracker to ignite so well?

  • Really nice one!
