Gameplay from Satellite Attack playing on Philips Videopac G7000 aka Magnavox Odyssey 2 retro video games console. Retro gaming.

This is not a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability.
It's simply a quick demonstration of the game so that anyone not familiar with these old games can see what it looks like.

Any opinions or comments I make regarding these games should largely be taken with a pinch of salt.
They are usually based on my first impressions after a very brief play.

  • This had a weird control method. You could shoot in multiple directions, but didn't control the direction directly. Instead, as you moved around, the gun direction would progressively orbit around you (you can see it as a larger/highlighted dot). If you stayed still, the gun angle would remain the same. As soon as you moved, it would proceed with its directional orbit. After a while you got good enough to plan a manoeuvre with its anticipated change of gun direction.

  • @KaitainCPS Yup. I found that pretty tricky to deal with :)

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

  • @KaitainCPS Other things to know : when you hit something or when you shoot, you need to wait 2 or 3 seconds for your shield to restore (shooting consumes your shield)

Low spinning asteroids goes randomly, quick spinning asteroids are attracted to you

When an asteroid explodes it sends 3 pieces that can destroy other asteroid (or maybe you) in a short distance.

  • how much did your Philips Videopac G7000 cost you? I see they go very cheap on ebay.
