Once we lose all the polar ice then the rate of temperature increase will increase. Then maybe some of the scenarios that scientists have mapped out will start. One can only hope not.
many people are alarmed that the polar ice caps are melting ... but it is why temperatures are so low now ... even though they are at record highs ... they should be much higher because they always follow co2 levels which have hockey sticked up ... you can think of global warming like leaping off of a tall, tall bldg ... the melting of the ice caps doesn't kill you nor does the fall from the bldg ... what kills you is when you hit the ground and after the ice has melted
