I made a little tutorial on a classic/riffle pass I use as a card control in many card tricks.

Let me know what you think (•̮●)

  • Trick to pass is to not move the right fingers. You don't have to pull the upper packet at all, actually. I recommend listening to Aaron Fisher's lectures and going back to Erdnase.

You do it excellently, though I think a spectator would know what was happening.

  • Yeah. Your right. Allthough, the pass is a bit exaggerated in this video, for explanation purpose. I have a link in the discription of how I usually do it. It looks a bit different. ;)

  • argh I really have no idea how to do this. I've been working on it for quite some time and yet mine is sitll completely obvious.

Could you give a few tips about angles or stuff like that? Personally, I have no problems with the move itself, it's just that my top pack disappears so obviously.

  • It's a frustrating move that unfortunately takes a lots of time to learn :S

Just keep working with you angles. Smoothness is also extreamly important. Gl!

  • This is a very good tutorial, but I have to ask 1 question. How come everytime I pull off the top deck, I can never get the whole deck to be pulled? In other words, im always pulling like 1 or 2 cards. lol its really annoying, you have any suggestions>

  • I guess I had that problem to when i started too. Maby you have very slippery cards? :P

I suggest that you start with pulling of small groups of cards, maby 10-15, just to get the hang of it. When you feel that you have control you can try to pull half a deck.

You will probobly notice that it will get easier the more relaxed your hands are. The cards should be pulled with balance, not with force.

    gl!

  • Your explanation is one of the best I've seen and I've been doing magic for about 5 years now. Your use of a slight angle on the cards and pulling the bottom half in towards you was such a helpful concept. I found myself saying "why didn't I think of that!" Thank you!

  • goood work

  • @chessmeister Sorry- I understand what you mean now

  • @ReallyUnRealScape When you're handling the cards normally, your right hand fingers would never look like that. I use the top hand to pull up slightly on the bottom packet, with a relaxed bottom hand. This flips the top packet vertically. Then, gravity and a little finger pressure from the bottom hand will do the rest, and the bottom hand rises up to close the packets. It's tough to explain without showing. It's just the idea that your hands should appear as if they are doing nothing.

  • @chessmeister What do you mean? The entire pass is pulling the upper packet down under the bottom one

  • merci !

  • whats the name of the song?

  • Great technique. Rifling the cards as you put them back together is perfect for putting the deck back together. I've been trying to find a way to put the deck back together without the two parts making the clapping noise.

  • Thank u cool...!!!!

  • i'm doing it right now and i can't even get the top deck to the bottem lol

  • Very good.i now use the same technique.many thanks.

  • i love the way you do the pass perfect angles and the pull deck back thing makes it much easyer ive been working on the pass for only a day and still not fast enough but i think ive got a lot better just by ur explaniation. thanks
