BlackBerry App World 2.0 leaves beta, includes cheaper apps and new payment options

The latest version of BlackBerry App World is now available to all, and it includes a number of welcome additions. First off, RIM has dropped the $2.99 minimum from paid apps, so now BlackBerry developers can release $0.99 and $1.99 apps just like everybody else. It's also easier to buy those apps now, with credit card and carrier billing becoming available, and the new BlackBerry ID function lets you both perform those credit card payments and to easily move all your apps over to a new BlackBerry device when the time comes. RIM has also enacted a few new app discovery mechanisms for hunting down those "Super Apps" (BlackBerry users know what we're talking about), but it's not all gravy: the developer revenue split is down to 70 / 30 from RIM's original exception-to-the-rule 80 / 20. PlayStation 3 Finally Hacked With a USB Stick?

The PlayStation 3 has one of the best copy protection schemes in the history of consoles. In the near-four years since its launch, the machine will only run with legitimate games. The Xbox 360 and Wii, on the other hand, were cracked to run home-burned games years ago. While there's been much work behind getting the PlayStation 3 cracked by those in the pirate industry, there wasn't much success -- until maybe now. According to an Australian mod chip source, hackers and crackers in China and/or Hong Kong have developed a USB stick that will allow the PlayStation 3 to boot games copied to on the hard disk drive.

Intel Buys McAfee for $7,680,000,000

Intel this morning released a statement announcing its acquisition of software security company McAfee at a cost of $48 per share, or $7.68 billion. McAfee, which last year brought in more than $2 billion in revenue, has more than 6,000 employees and will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary, reporting into Intel's Software and Services Group. Intel CEO Paul Otellini said in a statement that the company now ranks security among its top three priorities, along with connectivity and energy-efficient performace.

@TheTechSource1 The big league game developers will survive and flourish, but starting developers will be crushed by piracy. Throwing a blanket statement over the big league while the small ones suffer is by no way reassuring: new innovations from upcoming developers will be lost this way due to low sales from piracy and Activision killing small companies. This leads to not just lesser games available in the future but also people losing their job.

as silly as it sound... im not a tech head, so im not entirely sure..

Would i HAVE to download games, or i could just borrow game discs of mates,a nd copy them on to my ps3 (like daemon tools on pc)?
