I think these exercises are meant for after the foot has healed to restore flexibility and motion of the ankle. He should have posted that in video description.
Do not do this until all swelling has gone away and you feel little or no pain, but ankle is still stiff.

my foot came off... i had to carry it in my hand... back to the hospital and the reattached it with super human glue!

Depending on the seriousness of your injury any exercise needs to be modified. As he says in the video, there is good pain and bad pain. Going through good pain is good, but if you reach bad pain you've gone too far. I'm capable of semi-normal walking after 10 months, but these exercises are great.
