    I'm always so aware that Sally Field is "acting". She doesn't even seem to enjoy the craft; she's just selling a product. She's better in supporting roles like "Forrest Gump" and "Lincoln" before you tire of her.

    norma rae was a good role. This statue though was bette midlers. The phone booth scene alone is an epic moment in movies. To add to it when she's left on the side of the road crying.. "Where's everybody going" it gets no better than that. I suspect at that time the academy went with a safer bet based more on their own likeability quotient.
