I've heard Aretha - and she is really, really the most talented person I think I've ever heard.

Aretha's great, but check out the older black and white video and you'll REALLY appreciate the sweet inspirations and how brilliant they were in their own right. These backup singers do not catch fire in any way even remotely close to the sweet inspirations. it REALLY makes a difference, as does Aretha's inspired piano playing and the more energetic band from the 60s TV performance.
