My solo arrangement of James Mulholland's "If Love Should Count You Worthy" sung during my senior recital at UT-Brownsville in Nov. 2006. The sound quality leaves much to be desired, but I love the song ever so much.
The hidden Fr.Hornist is Braulio Amaro.
If Love Should Count You Worthy, Sidney Royse Lysaght
If love should count you worthy, and should deign
One day to seek your door and be your guest,
Pause! ere you draw the bolt and bid him rest,
If in your old content you would remain.
For not alone he enters: in his train
Are angels of the mists, the lonely quest.
Dreams of the unfulfilled and unpossessed,
And sorrow, and life's immemorial pain.
He wakes desires you never will forget,
He shows you stars you never saw before,
He makes you share with him for evermore,
The burden of the worlds divine regret.
How wise were you to open not! and yet,
How poor if you should turn him from the door.
@joeconley60 I know, I know! Chorally, it's much easier to do this piece at the tempo you (and Mulholland) suggest, but as a solo, when I slowed it down, I was forced to breathe "in between" phrases, and it ended up sounding really cheap. So, I sacrificed tempo for smoothness.
And I would also agree with you about the straight tone, but my voice teacher would have had my hide. Unfortunately, senior recitals are not the place to insist on doing it "my way." (:

WOA WOA WOA SLOW DOWN GIRL, I learned this piece straight from James Mulholland and trust me its much much slower than you're taking it. this is not a song to be plowed through like that. The sound you need for this song is what you're using at the 3:40 mark throughout the song in exception of the louder portions, but even then not as loud as you took it. At the beginning of the piece at the hmm's try to make it more straight toned to match the quality of the french horn I love your voice though
