Britpop was just invented by the music press to lump all indie music of the time into the same box. The word Britpop makes me cringe! more suited to the likes of Shed 7 that only made it by jumping on the band wagon. Lush were definately not britpop!!

They're related to Britpop in the sense that both things occurred on the same island. Lush never had anything to do with the so-called Britpop thing. They certainly didn't let Tony Blair use them as a marketing gimmick.
If anything, their roots are in the C86 diy music movement; that and a spot of riot grrl. Britpop - no chance.
