@Blackrain4xmas Yeah, why would you? That's why it should be illegal to import things from countries that have lower standards of living than our own. You should be forced to support your own country and not line the pockets of international interests. If everyone has to do it, then you will be able to compete on a fair field. This is how Germany has remained strong post WW2, by protecting their domestic industries, the US on the other hand, had them sold them off by politicians on both sides.
@skreennaim02 union or no union....why would I buy new equipment and hire (even non-union workers at $50hr shop rate) when I can just go online and order the parts from overseas? Equipment costs can be offset in the US-that's great, but the labor costs are freaking insane when you add in healthcare, workers comp, income tax, soc sec and on and on. There's no mathematical sense in my hiring a $50hr shop rate guy vs buying from overseas where its $5hr shop rate. Yeah, please do enforce trade!
@Blackrain4xmas This isn't a union thing, this is an American jobs thing. We can't create jobs here unless we stop the flow of cash out of the country, which free trade agreements allow to happen.
Thank you Tim, Dennis, and Marcy for voting against this agreement. Your stand against the outright purchasing of votes by multinational interests makes me proud to be an Ohioan. If there was a viable third party that truly represented the wishes of the people, I know all of you would be in it!
I have a small business in Akron. Why would I hire American union workers at $50-100hr in cost when I can just buy my matl from Malaysia and China where lower labor costs allows them to make things cheaper? You won't find many Democrats talking about WHY other nations can make things for less than $50-100hr!
