That face, that lovely beautiful face that gave so much emotion and enthusiasm to here roles. Coupled with that "Freni voice" and ability to make Puccini come alive. No one and I mean no one sang La Boheme like La Mirella.

@Drelnis What is this? I have checked the comments and, fortunately, I can find nothing, did some idiot have the absence of mind to claim that Mirella Freni can't sing Boheme? The poor person must be insane.

I need this in English

This performance was the greastest I have ever seen. I was there.

In my view the greatest interpreters of this role were Albanese (Just sweet and comes from that Puccini era so maybe real close to what the maestro was getting at the time),Callas (Just unbelievable and heartbreakingly touching!),De Los Angeles (Heaven-sent Mimì),Freni (Human Mimì-suffers and makes us suffer with her! We die with her!)
I also believe Scotto and Moffo were good in this role. Im just grateful we've had all this marvellous performances! Thank God for each and every one of them!

I believe the competition you are refering to she sang Un Bel Di from Madame Butterfly.
-
Why does she have to be like Caballe?
I'd wish to hear such a "under- Level" in our theaters...

tienes muchisima razón
Freni can't sing Boheme? She shot off her career winning a competition with Boheme, she debuted her Met with Boheme, Kajaran made a Boheme video recording with her.

Mirella Freni is a great great singer.
I don't know who can claim that she can't sing Boheme? This is ridiculous.
Mirella is Mimi in flesh and spirit. Her interpretation is one of the greatest.
When will people stop comparing? Mirella is a wonder and I thank God for giving her to us.
