Moderator: Mark Riedemann
Production Date: 2008
Duration: 3'24''

The future of Christians in the Middle East lies in the creation of a society in which Muslims, Christians, and Jews can peacefully coexist. Nowhere is this tension more played out than in Lebanon - a country that has repeatedly suffered war and political assassinations on its territory. Host Mark Riedemann interviews Fr. Paul Karam, National Director for the Pontifical Mission Society in Lebanon concerning the challenge of maintaining Lebanons example of political harmony between Muslims and Christians in face of the perpetual insecurity created from countries outside Lebanon, seeking to resolve political crises on Lebanese soil.

  • Come on Mark Riedemann, you can do better than that!!!

    F. Karam should update his information. During the war, the christian/muslim mixed towns were almost all destroyed with massive expulsions. The return of the displaced is rather limited and mostly superficial.

On the other hand, many towns around the country now have several muslim communities. This is true in Saïda, Beyrouth, Aley, Tripoli, the Zahrani and the Shuf region...

  • @nightambler

Good point. Please keep in mind that the interview with Fr. Karam was produced in 2008. The situation got worse since then. But still we can hope for peace.

  • Lebanon is Christian

    Save the christians in lebanon

  • @midleground Maronite are Arabs you ignorant. Christianity is a religion trespasses nationality, race, color. Who are the REAL LEBANESE (christian Maronite ) you are mentioning ? Bshara Khoury? Ja3 ja3? Aoun? Lahoud? All of them fucked up like you including politicians of all sects. Do a reality check.

Just a reminder when the Christians were in control there was a civil war. Go back to your iran, or usa. or be it isreal. lebanon is for lebanese not for Maronites.

I do not have time to teach you history and how lebanon is formed. Go back to the mountain with your goats.
