  • @anttrap321 It's a distant tree, not one right next to you obviously.

  • I wish I had seen this video 3 days ago...

  • a TREE??? what? why the fuck would i want to look at a tree, I dont want to crash into it. wtf

You're completely right! The worst thing to do in a RWD car, especially mid engined or with a close to 50/50 weight distribution, is to let off the gas overly rapidly during a rear wheel skid. In a rear wheel skid, especially an acceleration induced one, you must continue to feather the throttle while providing steering input WITHOUT crossing your hands until traction is regained. Lifting off can cause snap-over steer and you will over-correct into a spin!

If you break your rear tires loose in a RWD car, the worst thing you can do is let off of the gas. The typical terrible American driver will feel the back end breaking loose, countersteer to full steering lock, and let off the gas/hit the brake, which will just cause you to to slide back the other way and completely spin. Letting off of the gas will transfer weight towards the front of the car, reducing the already low grip on the rear tires.

  • ya but they all used 3 lanes to recover i dont know what country all has a minimum of 3 lanes per direction on the road. just today i got into a crash , i avoided 4 parked cars by accelerating in my counter steer but crashed into someone in the median . i believe people need to take advanced drivers training before driving on the road. i know if i did this wouldnt have happened DMV need to make these manuvers required and not optional

  • so what they are saying is look at a tree so you can hit the tree an let it stop u

  • wow you guys should take this video down, if anyone who lives in a place where it snows sees this and takes it seriously, they will cause an even bigger accident. the advice in this video should only be used as what not to do.

  • I can do much better using one hand compare to two hands. Plus when you go in to skid make sure you hit the gas hard that should get you out of skid.

  • lol like watching theses damn driver ed videos and how theses so called experts know what to do this dumb ass talks bout look ahead when the car gos into a skid its good when your driving to allway look ahead and when your in a rear wheel drive car u do not hit the gas when u go in to a rear wheel skid damn dumbass expert if u do that u will go into a spin u let off the gas in a rwd car
